June 2010

Hessle golf club The Lady Captains Ball, a brilliant night a top class venue and very friendly people from whom we had a very warm welcome, the dance floor was busy from the opening number and continued to be so throughout the evening, Steve put in a selection of early Cliff Richard songs, Heinz, and Elvis during the Billy Fury Tribute which were very well received. As always Steve was on top form displayed great vocal warmth throughout his set. Tony followed Steve with some great Buddy Holly Numbers, mixed in with Eddie Cochran and Elvis, finishing his spot with the Buddy Holly Classis True Love Ways. The last set which always features both artists was a mix of numbers from the 50's and 60's and ended on the Matchbox Classic, Rockabilly Rebel. We had a great night and the audience loved it so much so that we will be back for the next Lady Captains Ball.

One of the first gigs after recent injury was a LEAPS charity event at the Willows Club Hull, It was an excellent night with some great acts which Included Country Singer Becky Brown, Roy Orbison Tribute Artist Dave Montana, Alan Vegas as John Lennon, and many more. The icing on the cake for me was Danielle Walters a 16 year old from Little Weighton with an incredible voice, and a stage presence beyond her years. Also taking part were Gemma's Dancers and the Irish Dancers who put on a two very proffessional and well received, performances.

February 2010

Due to a shoulder injury there will be no further gigs in February/March.

Fabulous night at Worksop, superb and very appreciative audience, and as always in Nottinghamshire we were were extended a very warm welcome which we really appreciated. The dance floor was very well used  during the evening, we like our rock and roll loud and fast, we were told by one club member and he was,nt kidding, louder was the cry and louder it went. The ticket only event had been sold out for three weeks, and everyone was determined to have a good time, the house was a rocking and a jumping and everyone had a great time. Our thanks go to everyone at the club for many nice comments and warm reception. We look forward to seeing you again in October.

A Valentines weekend special Legends of rock n roll night, was held at the Tigers Lair,  which Included tributes to Billy Fury and Buddy Holly, both tributes included other artists who had toured with, or associated with Billy Fury and Buddy Holly, in some way,  great numbers from artists of the Larry Parnes Stable reminicent of the 50's Oh Boy TV Show Dickie Pride, Marty Wilde and Cliff, during the Billy Fury spot, Steve belted out some great numbers from Elvis, Johnny Kidd, Ricky Nelson and Shane Fenton.

The Buddy Holly Tribute followed very quickly after with some great Buddy Holly numbers and Included some commemrative Elvis numbers remembering the days that Buddy Holly and Elvis had peformed together in Buddy's home town of Lubbock Texas. The final spot was a very pro Elvis spot with some early classic Elvis numbers rarely heard but very appropriate for a Valentines night, Please don't stop loving me Pledging My Love, After Loving You, Falling In love, to the up tempo Viva Las Vegas, Devil In Disguise, Its alright Mama, Gotta Lotta Living To Do, and Elvis's version of Johnny B Good, was intermingled with Gerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry.

A lot of familiar faces from the Spot Inn and Witham kept the dance floor well used and a good night was had by all. Saturday 13th Saw the Legends show at the Dene Park Valentines Dinner and Dance. The audience at the Dene Park was composed of lots of familiar faces and intermingled with some younger people, once again the dance floor was very well used during the night with the younger members of the audience very active on the dance floor. A very well known rocking n rolling couple Gerry  & Gina, hit the dance floor with some classic rock n roll dance moves, later in the night Gerry strutted his stuff with a classic Teddy Boy Rockabilly stomp. We will be back at the Dene Park and Tigers Lair later in the year watch the calender for details.

On the 8th of April the Leaps organisation will be holding a charity event at the Willows club, Holderness Road, among the artists who will be appearing will be Tony Davey and Hull's own little Miss Dynamite, Becky Brown.
